It is definitely okay to have a messy house with kids! Houses are meant to be lived in, not just displayed. We want our kids to get their toys out and have fun. However, I personally feel better when there is order and cleanliness. It is okay if your house isn’t perfect all of the time.
Okay, now here are my best tips for keeping a house clean with kids:
Have a routine
Developing a routine that works for you is essential to keeping your house clean. I try to focus on one room of the house every day and then just tidy up other rooms if I have time and energy.
Do one load of laundry a day
There’s nothing more overwhelming to me than a giant pile of laundry. I try to wash and dry one load of laundry every day and then fold it the next day. It breaks it up and makes it much more manageable.
Get your kids involved
Okay, I know getting your kids involved in cleaning may sound very counterintuitive but hear me out! There is something kids of any age can do. I have my toddler help me put silverware away when I unload the dishwasher and put his toys away. Give each child a job and then work alongside them.
Declutter, declutter, declutter

15 minute clean up at night
I love waking up to a tidy home. My husband and I will set a timer for 15 minutes after the kids go to bed and just pick up whatever we can in that time. You will be amazed at how much you can get done!
Keeping your house clean with kids is NOT impossible. If it seems overwhelming, just choose one of these tips to try out and see how it goes for you. You can do this!
