Homemade Hamburger Helper

My family has absolutely LOVED this homemade hamburger helper. It’s super affordable to make and packed with veggies like zucchini, onion, and mushrooms. My toddler got it in his mind that this was “mac and cheese” and ate 3 little bowls! It was something I felt good about feeding my family as well as being simple. Added bonus – it only takes one pot!

Brown ground beef

Start browning ground beef in a large pan or pot over medium-high heat. When the ground beef is almost done browning, add diced onions, zucchini, and mushrooms. Cook until the meat has no pink remaining and the vegetables are softened.

Add ingredients

Add garlic, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper to ground beef mixture. Cook for 1-2 minutes or until garlic is fragrant.

Add liquid ingredients and noodles

Add macaroni noodles, beef broth, and milk. Make sure all the noodles are covered by liquid.

Cook and add cheese

Cook uncovered for 10-12 minutes until noodles are al dente, stirring occasionally. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.

Enjoy!

Serve with additional shredded cheese if desired and enjoy!
