French Dip Sandwiches with Shredded Pot Roast

French dip sandwiches are one of my family’s favorite dinners to enjoy! These are perfect to warm you up on a chilly fall evening. This recipe is also so so simple and won’t keep you in the kitchen for hours and hours.

Put your roast in the crockpot

The morning of, put your roast in the crockpot with 1 French onion soup packet and 1/2 cup beef broth. Cook on low for 10-12 hours if frozen, 8-10 hours if not frozen.

Note: This is the crockpot I have from Walmart. It’s affordable and I absolutely love it!

Preheat oven

About 30 minutes before you are ready to eat, preheat oven to 450 degrees to toast your sandwich buns.

Shred roast

Then, you are going to shred your roast with a fork. I find it’s easiest to remove the roast from the crockpot and shred it with two forks and then place it in a separate container. I also add a little bit of the juices from the crockpot to keep the meat moist and juicy.

Prepare au jus

Mix au jus gravy mix with water in a small pan on your stovetop according to the directions on the package.

Toast sandwich buns

Place sandwich buns on a tray and put parmesan cheese on the top bun (optional). Toast in an oven preheated to 450 degrees for 5-10 minutes until at desired toastiness.

Assemble sandwiches

Assemble sandwiches by putting your shredded roast on the sandwiches. Put au just gravy in a bowl on the side for dipping.

Enjoy!
