Cozy Fall Minimalist Bedroom Ideas

I have never been much of a decorator but this year I wanted to create a cozy, warm feeling in my home going into the fall season. I decided to start with our master bedroom. I love having our bedroom be a cozy, welcoming space that we can retreat to at the end of the day and wake up to each morning. I’m excited to share some ideas I’ve been able to incorporate into our space while keeping things minimalist and simple.
Choose simple bedding for all seasons
I would recommend keeping your bedding simple and neutral as a base for however you want to decorate for each season. We have a gray and white striped duvet cover and I switch out our sheets with either gray or white. I had put away our duvet for summer and now that temperatures is going down, it was time to get it out!

Try to keep layers minimal and simple. I would suggest just one duvet or comforter, a few pillows, and a throw blanket at the foot of the bed. Of course, if a bunch of throw pillows bring you joy – go for it! Just keep it simple and you will thank yourself at bedtime and when it’s time to make the bed.
Stick to a neutral color palette

A neutral color palette like white, beige, or light grays will create a cozy, calming environment in your bedroom. Having neutrals as your base will also make seasonal colors you choose to incorporate a great, subtle addition to the space.
Incorporate a warm fall color palette

When you start incorporating fall elements into your bedroom decor, I’d suggest learning towards warm tones like burnt orange, mustard yellow, deep reds, or rust. You can use these colors in your accent pieces like pillows, throw blankets, or small decor items. I choose to add a small, orange throw blanket to our bedding. You can find a similar throw blanket on Amazon here!
Add fall-themed artwork and decor
You can find some beautiful, minimal artwork for the fall season like photos of fall leaves or landscapes. You can use photos you have taken yourself or even try your luck at the thrift store for an affordable option. A few small decorative pumpkins on a dresser or nightstand can also be a darling addition to your bedroom. Adding a few small accents can give those fall vibes you are looking for without being overwhelming and creating clutter.
Find a fall scent

My toddler and I spent a few minutes at the grocery store smelling different wax melts and decided Apple Spice Crumb Cake was the scent we wanted to bring into our home to celebrate fall! Choosing a fall scent to feature in your room can be so fun and create a fall atmosphere. You can also choose an aesthetic candle or diffuse essential oils like clove or cinnamon.
Cultivate soft, ambient lighting

Using warm, soft lighting can definitely enhance the cozy feeling in your bedroom. Consider adding a simple bedside lamp with a warm-colored bulb or hang a strand of fairy lights to create a warm, glowing atmosphere. You can also add lanterns or a few candles in neutral or fall shades for some extra warmth.
Add an area rug
Adding a simple, cozy area rug in warm, fall tones or a natural texture like jute or wool to your space can make it feel inviting. I would suggest a rug with a subtle pattern or warm tones to add a fall-inspired element.
